Geometry-aware composition
in a direct visual workspace
A. Researcher · Department of Applied Mathematics
Abstract
Purpose. A document canvas should preserve the geometry authors establish while they work. This study examines a single-view workflow in which structure and presentation remain aligned.
1. Introduction
Technical documents combine prose, notation, citations, figures, and strict page constraints. The working view is most useful when those elements already occupy their final relationships.
∫Ω ∇u · ∇v dx = λ ∫Ω uv dx
Font advances, line breaks, baselines, margins, and mathematical spacing are treated as document geometry.

01 / THE DIFFERENCE
Not a source editor
with a preview attached.
LaTeX remains one of the foundations of academic and technical publishing. Its structure and typography are valuable. Its source language does not need to become the writing experience.
Monolith keeps the source behind the document. There is no dual pane to interpret, no compile-and-correct loop before the page makes sense, and no command syntax required to begin.
You work directly on a paged canvas. The keys you press appear where they belong. Mathematics is built as mathematics. Figures, citations, tables, and page settings live in the same visual workspace.

02 / FIDELITY
Precision is not
an export setting.
It is the foundation of the canvas. Monolith is designed around TeX Font Metric data, pdfLaTeX geometry, and a shared document structure so the working page and the final page remain aligned.

Learning a typesetting language should be optional. Publication-quality page construction should not be.
Monolith Workbench is for researchers, students, educators, engineers, mathematicians, editors, and independent authors who want direct visual editing without giving up technical publishing standards.
04 / CONTROLLED BETA
Help shape the
first release.
The initial beta is intentionally limited. Participants will use Monolith on real technical documents and help identify where the experience needs refinement before wider availability.
Focused accessA measured rollout with direct feedback loops.
Real documentsAcademic, mathematical, and publishing workflows.
Clear expectationsBeta behavior and known limits documented up front.
05 / QUESTIONS
Before you apply.
Is Monolith a LaTeX editor?+
No. Monolith uses technical publishing structures and can generate LaTeX source, but the primary authoring experience is the visual page itself. There is no required source-and-preview workflow.
What does “genuine WYSIWYG” mean here?+
The canvas is intended to reflect the document's page geometry, typography, mathematics, and object placement—not merely approximate a separate compiled result.
Who is the controlled beta for?+
People who regularly create demanding technical, academic, mathematical, educational, journal, or publishing-quality documents and are willing to report specific feedback.
Will I need to know LaTeX?+
No. Learning a typesetting language is optional. LaTeX source remains available as an output and advanced interoperability path when a publishing workflow requires it.
What will Monolith cost?+
Pricing and license terms will be announced before paid availability. Beta participation does not imply a purchase commitment.
